these are some food that i feel that represent Asia.
because im a great food fan, and many people think of good food when Asia is mentioned, i have decided to focus on food for the postcard to imply my notion of Asia.

final colour scheme.

I have selected the sepia one to be my final postcard as i feel that it is less conventional and it gives the postcard a refreshing feel.

Eventually i have changed the picture into a bloody knuckled fist. It looks more powerful now also. I have also changed the colour of the words for better readability.

my idea was on preventing domestic violence. i wanted to show a picture of a bloody wrist to portray violence. and having the fist alot bigger than the woman and children to show that it is intimidating.
moreover, i added words at the background to further strengthen the violence factor of the poster.

however, i received feedback that i should show the knuckles instead of the wrist side, and i should change the colours abit because some words are not really readable.

well. the story is about this fat girl, who (metaphorically) had a dream to be a superstar. She tried to go on a super diet, exercised vigorously, and in the end, succeeded in becoming a star. She held a concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and it was full housed.

Eventually... she realised. it was all but a dream. T_T

actually i thought the storyline was quite clear. But people pointed out that the transition from the 50kg to the concert scene was not clear. suggestions was that i should take away the concert parts entirely, and lengthen the losing-weight scenes. But the problem is that i like the concert scene alot. maybe... i can add a picture of her being inspired by singers? or holding a microphone? hmm...

dilemma dilemma dilemma..

this was the original final step of the pictogram. but everyone felt that it could be simplified more. so i moved on to edit it even further. so i got a simple pictogram as shown below.

FINAL pictogram chosen. Blogger is being weird with the colour of uploads recently. i have no idea why. the colours are supposed to be the same as the reduction process below! >.<
final 5 steps of abstraction.

Final Design of my name. edited abit only.
i enlarged the "G" to make the heel extend out of the box.
the "Yee" remains my favourite part of the design. hee.

I began by drawing small thumbnails of things that best described me.

i actually liked the ideas of the microphone and shopping and the girl with straight fringe alot.
Therefore i decided to develop them into rough sketches.

This is actually my name with polka dots. Unfortunately it looks really ugly and it does not look like polka dots at all. It MAY look better with colours, I don't know. haha.

I chose a design with microphones and musical notes because i really love to sing, and also because i play music. i like the Y design alot. It looks really cute and nice to me. but the "e",
"N" and "G" look kind of boring though.

I wanted to incorporate some characters into the sketches so that it looks more "alive". And I thought, why not draw myself into the sketch? I wanted the characters to look like me, and also to personify the characters better. As i recently cut a new fringe, i decided to draw myself with my new hair into my name. Looks cute! ^^

I love shopping and clothes and all things bling bling, and so, i decided to have a sketch dedicated to my favourite pastime-shopping and looking at clothes.

From the above sketches, I realised that no one sketch can best describe me, because I'm a many-sided person. Therefore i decided to integrate most of the designs into 1. Also, i wanted to make my designs colourful to represent me better, because i am a person who loves colours (especially pink!) and cannot stand monotony.

the Yee remains as my favourite part of the rough. =)
actually the sketch does not look integrated enough, because the "Yee" is thin but the "Ning" is fat. therefore there is a weird contrast between them.

I decided to change my Y into a clothes stand with a dress on it. looks not bad. but the overall design looks too plain and boring. i like the high heels on the G though. Jing said she can imagine me wearing it, although i was not wearing heels on the tutorial itself. haha.
